1.Kovalam
At a distance of 13 km from Trivandrum, 63 km from Kochi, 67 km from Nagarcoil, 212 km from Kochi, 159 km from Alleppey and 83 km from Kanyakumari, Kovalam, on the shores of Arabian Sea, is one of the most famous Beaches in Kerala. It is also one of the most famous places to visit in Kerala state.
The beautiful Kovalam Beach resort is also known as the 'Paradise of the South'. Kovalam means 'A grove of coconut trees' and the whole area beyond the shores around Kovalam is literally filled with endless sight of coconut trees offering magnificent views while approaching the beach. 2.Kollam
At a distance of 135 km from Kochi, 69 km from Trivandrum, 83 km from Alleppey, 94 km from Kottayam and 156 km from Kanyakumari, Kollam (also known as Quilon) is an old sea port city in Kerala and headquarters of the Kollam District. The town of Kollam lies between the Ashtamudi Lake and Lakshadweep Sea. Kollam is one of the Kerala backwaters destinations.
Kollam lies on the shores of Ashtamudi Lake. It is the southern gateway to Backwaters of Kerala and is a prominent tourist destination. Thirty percent of this district is covered by Ashtamudi Lake. 3.Papanasam Beach
At a distance of about 26 km from Kollam & 48 km from Trivandrum, Papanasam Beach is located in Varkala, which is a coastal town on the banks of Arabian Sea. At a distance of 68 km from Kollam, 39 km from Tenkasi & 73 km from Trivandrum, Thenmala Dam also known as Kallada Dam or Parappara Dam located in Thenmala village is built across Kalla River. It is situated very close to Kollam - Tenkasi road. The dam is located amidst picturesque location with beautiful surroundings at the foothills of the Western Ghats. The surroundings of Thenmala Dam are developed under eco-tourism development activities. It is also selected by World Tourism Organisation as one of the best eco-friendly projects in the world. 6.Shanghumugham Beach
At a distance of about 10 kms from Trivandrum Central Railway Station, Shanghumugham Beach is a famous beach around Trivandrum. The huge sculpture of a Nymph (Jalakanyaka) made by the famous sculptor Sri Kanai Kunjuraman and a restaurant shaped like a star fish are added attractions here. The beach is more crowded during the weekends and local holidays. Sunset at this beach is worth watching. The Chacha Nehru Traffic Training Park here attracts children and helps them to learn the traffic rules. During temple festivals the beach witnesses ritual washing of temple idols.
